Job Description

The wholesale office supplies industry is stagnant. The current duopoly is too big and too naïve to respond to the growing threat of Amazon and the changing procurement landscape, and as such is badly letting it’s dealers down.

My Client is going to change that and we are looking for an inspirational sales figurehead to drive sales through 3 key channels.

The first channel is a relatively normal customer acquisition approach. Creating, mentoring and managing a National sales team of 4 individuals who are tasked with acquiring the custom (contract and non-contract) of office supplies resellers across the UK. Subsequent key account management to follow.

The second channel is to personally support the growth of new office products resellers who have signed up to our “Launchpad” programme. These are high level sales professionals who have decided to go it alone and have joined the programme that supports their endeavours. Personal mentoring across all levels of business and sales management is required.

The final channel is to take full responsibility for the “Wheels” market. Wheels is a National network of vehicles that operate under “roundsman” by-laws selling products to customers and businesses directly from the vehicle at Key locations. Locations include train stations, business parks and large events. You will be responsible for the recruitment, mentoring and growth of these individuals, Nationwide, focusing on delivering a bespoke “van load” per specific region so as to maximise sales based on regional usage.

In addition to this you will be expected to key account manage one client who has a turnover of £83m, identifying a potential successor over the initial 6 months of employment. You will be reporting directly to founder and CEO and will be joined on the board by the Retail Director (98 stores) and the E-Commerce Director.

You will be of high energy with and have considerable experience within the office products sector, ideally with time spent at a wholesaler and reseller.

Attractive package on offer up to £120K Basic + 30% bonus & full corporate package.

Role is Cambridge based with considerable National Travel.
