Job Description

To provide efficient and effective upkeep and maintenance of site (Industrial and office) facility including ensuring the security and general appearance of the buildings and surrounding areas are maintained in accordance with the required standards.

Hours of work: 40 hours per week, Standard hours 08:30 : 17:30, however some flexibility to work outside of standard hours on an occasional basis to complete certain activities.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

To observe safe working practices in carrying out the required duties and ensure that instructions specified by technical consultants, contractors and manufacturers are adhered to.
To ensure heating plant and equipment is efficiently and effectively operated, adjust as necessary and reports defects and malfunctions to the appropriate person.
Arrange to clear blockages from sinks, toilets, drains, kitchen grease traps etc. and clean up spillages as required.
Ensure that gutters, gullies, drains etc. are checked regularly and kept free from debris and that the building and grounds are litter free.
Organise emptying Interceptors and take /record samples as required.
Dispose of waste materials in a safe manner adhering to waste disposal guidelines.
To undertake porterage tasks as required including setting up and clearing away furniture.
To undertake maintenance and light repair duties as outlined below (but not limited to):
Painting and Decorating (internal and external including line painting etc)
Basic joinery- First line maintenance of fixtures and fittings, examples: tightening screws on window hinges, maintenance on door handles, installing signs, minor repairs.
Plumbing- un-blocking sinks, traps and waste pipes. Adjustment and re- washering of taps.
To monitor stock levels of consumable items such as fuel, grit, toiletries, light bulbs/tubes and arrange to replenish supplies in accordance with current procedures.
To maintain appropriate records including intruder alarm logbook, repair orders, and heating system records book, carry out meter readings for the buildings.
To attend to, where necessary, personnel visiting the site such as contractors.
To carry out grass cutting/weed control on site and some grounds maintenance.
Carry out weekly fire alarm tests, and assist with evacuation procedures. Organise maintenance or alarm/ security systems and keep keyholder lists updated.
Keep company vehicles clean and in a road-worthy condition.
General tidying/ housekeeping around the facility.
To carry out any other reasonable duties within the overall function of the job and emergency tasks such as high tide preparations and clearing snow/ ice to keep the area safe etc.
Support to the Supply Chain Manager for facilities Management.
